We have to teach our children THIS.

Being a parent is an extraordinary experience, right? Sometimes it's incredibly draining and exhausting (like this past weekend when Dave, my husband, was out of town and I had the two boys and a puppy to wrangle...eek!) and at other times, so hilarious, heartwarming and inspiring.

More than anything though, it's a HUGE responsibility. I mean, I--along with my incredibly helpful and wonderful husband--am responsible for raising two human beings! Keeping them alive is the easy part. The hard part is making sure they turn out ok, relatively happy most of the time, creatively fulfilled, and contribute positively to society. That’s a tall order, but I’m hopeful ;)

The world is facing so many hurdles at the moment and part of my responsibility as a parent is to set a good example for my children and teach them that they have the power to do good, make a difference, and leave this world a better place than how they found it.

One way that I set a good example and show up for my children, my country, and the world is by voting. Voting demonstrates to them that their voice and their vote matters. That if they want to see change happen, they have to be the change.

It’s such an important lesson for our children to understand.

Think about it. If I don't show up to vote and if I don't participate, what lesson am I teaching my children? That my voice doesn't matter and that I don't have the power to help implement change. And that I can just sit back and hope that others will do the work and create the change for me. Where is the honor and decency in that?

So, what do you say? Will you Lead with Love with me for your children, for our country, and for the world, and show up on November 6th to vote?

I hope so.

PS. If you are new to this whole voting thing, that's ok! A great place to start is to make sure you are registered to vote. You can do that here.
